PROCEDURE, RULES AND REGULATIONS
ADMISSION PROCEDURE AND REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be at-least a graduate (in any field) or equivalent with a minimum of 2nd division from a recognized University. There will be no restriction of sex, creed or region and age limit.
Admission to the Diploma in Business & Industrial Mathematics and Computer Programming will be granted to the applicants on the basis of their performance in the admission test/interview specially arranged for this purpose. Admission to all students will be provisional and subject to the final approval of the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be at-least a graduate (in any field) or have equivalent degree with a minimum of 2nd division from a recognized university.
AGE LIMIT: There is no age limit.
DURATION: One-year scheme comprising of 15 modules and divided into 3 semesters.
REGISTRATION:
Applicants selected to be admitted to this course and having passed last examination from a University/Board other than Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan shall be required to submit NOC of that University/Board within four weeks after provisional admission prior to registering themselves with this Centre/University. The Vice-Chancellor may extend the period of submission of such certificates for any period he may deem proper.
The following certificates shall be submitted in original together with two attested copies of each at the time of registration.
- Migration certificate/NOC of the University if the applicant has graduated from a University other than Bahauddin Zakariya University.
- A Certificate of good conduct signed by the Head of the Institution last attended.
The Vice-Chancellor, the Dean or the Director of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Pure and Applied Mathematics may refuse admission to any candidate without assigning any reason to the candidate.
ENROLMENT:
No student shall be eligible to appear in any examination unless he/she is enrolled in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Pure and Applied Mathematics and has paid all the required dues.
If a student does not submit the required certificates within four weeks of the date of admission, his/her name will be struck off from the rolls of the Centre and will not be re-entered without satisfying the Director on valid and genuine reasons. The student will produce all the necessary and required certificates for enrolment and will pay the fee within a time limit as prescribed by the Centre. University Enrolment Number will be issued to each student on the submission of his/her application accompanied by the required certificates.
No application for admission to an examination or for any purpose shall be received from an enrolled student unless he/she quotes his/her Enrolment Number on the application.
Applications for enrolment on the prescribed form and supported by necessary documents must be submitted to the Registrar through the Director, CASPAM within four weeks of the date of admission. A fee of Rs.200/- shall be required to pay by each student for enrolment. A duplicate copy of the enrolment card can be had on the payment of Rs.10/-
ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to attend regularly all lectures, laboratory periods, seminars and field work, as may be prescribed and required, for each course. However, 80% attendance in each course/laboratory periods will essentially be required.
EXAMINATION AND GRADING SYSTEMS
a) The performance of the students shall be evaluated by a number of tests, short quizzes, class discussion, written assignments, research reports, etc, followed by a comprehensive and viva-voce examination at the end of every semester.
b) In the rating of the students, three passing grades A, B, C and one failing grade F shall be used. In terms of their numerical equivalence, the letter grades denote the following:
A: 80 ------- 100
B: 65 ------- 79
C: 50 ------- 64
F: Below ---50
c) No make up examination shall be allowed in any course under any circumstances.
d) A cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) shall be computed at the end of each semester for all students. Final letter grades in each course shall be converted to grade points on the following basis:

FRACTIONAL MARKS:
A fraction of marks obtained in a course will be rounded to the nearest whole figure.
GOOD STANDING
A) In order to remain on the rolls of the Centre, a student has continuously to maintain “Good Standing” namely, a satisfactory standard of attendance and academic performance, as well as conduct and discipline.
B) To remain in “Good Standing” a student besides meeting attendance and conduct requirements, must also maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 2.2 on cumulative basis. Any student with a G.P.A. of less than 2.0 will be dropped from the rolls of the Centre forthwith. A student securing a G.P.A. between 2.0 and 2.2 shall be promoted on probation to the second semester. At the end of second semester he/she will have to improve his/her G.P.A. and bring it up to the required minimum of 2.2. If he/she still fails to bring his/her G.P.A. to 2.2,he/she shall be dropped from the rolls of the Centre.
C) If a student fails to pass certain courses and yet manages to maintain his/her G.P.A. equal to or above 2.2, he/she shall repeat and clear the course(s) or substitute(s) (whenever permissible) before the Diploma is awarded to him/her.
D) A student who has not been required to repeat any course(s), obtains G.P.A. of 2.0 but less than 2.2 at the end of second semester may be allowed to repeat one or two courses in which he/she had obtained the lowest grades in order to improve the G.P.A. so as to obtain the minimum of 2.2, failing which he/she shall be removed from the rolls of the Centre.
E) A student shall be deemed to have lost his “Good Standing” if his/her conduct and behaviour is found objectionable from the disciplinary point of view.
F) To examine all problems regarding uniformity before the declaration of results for the semester as well as appeals from the students or teachers or any other related matter, a Departmental examination committee, comprising of 3 members shall be appointed by the Vice-Chancellor. The decision of the committee shall be final.
DECLARATION OF RESULT AND AWARD OF DIPLOMA
The Controller of Examinations after termination of written/viva-voce examinations of semester-I and semester-II respectively shall publish a list of successful candidates of each semester separately.
The Controller of Examinations, soon after the termination of semester-III comprehensive/viva-voce examination shall compile the results of all the three semesters and publish final list of successful candidates showing their final grade point average. Each successful candidate in the examination shall be granted, by the University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business & Industrial Mathematics and Computer Programming stating the Grade obtained by him/her.
FEE STRUCTURE
a) Rs.150/- will be charged as application/prospectus fee from each applicant which also includes cost of test.
b) Payment will be accepted in cash only.
