The university
came in to being in 1975 and started providing accommodation to the students in
rented buildings in Gulgasht Colony Multan. The university shifted to new campus
in 1980 and decided to provide proper Hostel accommodation to the students at
the new campus. It was decided to construct four boy’s Hostels at the new campus
on the name them after the four caliphs of Islam. First of four proposed hostel
Abu-Bakar Hall was completed in December 1980 and started providing
accommodation to the students in January 1981.There are 250 furnished cubicles
in Abu-Bakar Hall. The Hall contains all possible facilities with special
emphasis on cleanliness, good quality food and discipline. The Hostel office
maintains mess and Hostel accounts of the residents with a senior clerk a junior
clerk storekeeper and a Naib Qasid who work under the guidance of the Hostel
Administrations.
With opening of
new departments as the number of students increases substantially. Abu-Bakar
Hall proved inadequate in meeting the increased demand. To overcome the shortage
of accommodation of the University students a new Hostel Umer Hall was completed
in September 1984. The Hall has 254 cubicles and contains almost all the
facilities provided in the Abu-Bakar Hall. The office of the Warden and
superintendent are also located in this Hostel. This Hall has however a special
feature that it contains some reserved rooms for University guests and delegates
of conferences/sports.
In November
1985, First phase of Girls Hostels building at New Campus was completed and
started functioning. Later on with the increase demand for residence, the second
phase with an additional 125 cubical rooms capacity was started and completed in
December 1987. Presently, Girls Hostel Marryam Hall providing capacity of 250

of girls student increase with the opening of new departments and new courses of
morning and evening and the Marryam Hall proved inadequate to meet the
increasing demand, therefore the old administration block was converted into
hostel and second girls hostel (Fatima Hall) started functioning in April 1998.
The Hall has 58 rooms for 150 girl students and contains all necessary
facilities provided in the Marryam Hall. The third Girls hostel (Aisha Hall)
started functioning in April 1999. The Hall has 126 rooms for 240 girls students
