The Department of Library and Information Science was established by the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan in the year 2004 in response to a growing demand by the student community in general and particularly in the area of Southern Punjab. The launching of this Master’s programme will be yet another academic facility extended to this region by the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, which has been striving hard to cater for all the needs of the students in this area. The classes will initially start in the building of the Central Library which has almost all the facilities required for starting a class work efficiently. But the department will eventually move to the new building of the Department of English, which has been planned to be elevated to the status of an institute in due course of time.
