Terrorism, Extremism and Militancy in Pakistan: Domestic and International factors
Two-Day International Conference 17-18 January 2017 (Tuesday, Wednesday)

This conference is being arranged to discuss the issues of terrorism, extremism and militancy in their thematic exposition along with their empirical bases to evaluate the genre of these challenges in the context of Pakistan. Scholars within and outside Pakistan will be the part of this conference to highlight the underlying socio-political bases of these challenges and as well try to project the causal impact of international factors on the emerging scenario of Pakistan’s polity.
Pakistan as a state is constantly confronting to the challenges of these issues and some of its areas are very much prone to these threats due to weak governance and poor administrative structure. The multiplicity of the factors is not oblivion of about ideological idioms that have had an impact on the psychological grooming of the young strata of the society, particularly the regions of south Punjab, Balochistan and FATA to be inducted into the nursery of extremist. The factor of economic vulnerability has also increased the sensitivity of these challenges.
The basic purpose of this international conference is to discuss extremism, terrorism and militancy in Pakistan. The basic idea behind this conference is to find out the internal and external factors that played vital role in spreading militancy and extremism in state. It is very vital to identify such factors because Pakistan could not persist as an independent and powerful state because of these issues. These issues will be discussed by national and international scholars. They will address important aspects of the topic by highlighting the factors behind extremism, terrorism and militancy in Pakistan. The conference will not only help in providing the snapshots of the problem but also recommend the measures to resolve these issues through the scholarly work of national and international dignitaries.
The conference will be compartmentalized into sub themes to magnify the issues in their context for the understanding of the state initiative and the response of the society to mark the real perspectives of this syndrome. The dissection of the major theme will conveniently articulate the issues with the help of intellectual input.

Upon assessment of reviewers, top rated papers will be published in Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan's recognized (Y category research journal). Moreover, the organizers are also planning to publish an edited book comprised of selected articles.
The conference will be held at Jinnah Auditorium, Bahuddin Zakariya University, Multan.
