1. Journal of Research (Science) welcomes research manuscripts containing new scientific insight into any aspect of natural, physical and life sciences. All material submitted must be original, unpublished, should not have been submitted for publication elsewhere. The author(s) are required to attach a certificate to this effect alongwith the manuscript. Occasional concise review papers (see 5) and short communications (see 6) can also be considered for publication

2. Submission of manuscript: Three copies of the manuscript, written in English and complete in all respects, should be submitted to Prof. Dr. Syed Nisar Hussain Shah, Editor, Journal of Research (Science), Department of Pharmacy, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan-60800, Pakistan. A soft copy of the manuscript should also be sent through email along with all figures and tables. Also provide a list of three to five reviewers/referees from inland and abroad. Authors will be solely responsible for the factual accuracy of their contributions as well as obtaining any requisite permission for publication. The Editorial Board reserves the right to retain all manuscripts sent for publication. The authors are, therefore, advised to keep copies.

3. Preparation of manuscripts:

• Typescript should be on one side of A4 paper leaving a 3cm margin on all sides. The manuscript should, preferably, be composed in one column FORMAT using Microsoft Word in Arial font. Typing should be double spaced throughout the text, including tables, figures, legends, footnotes and references.
• The first page should only contain the title, name(s) and academic address(es) of the author(s). If the present address of any author is different it should be given as a footnote. Telephone, Fax number and e-mail address of the corresponding author should be provided as a footnote. A short running title of not more than 50 characters including spaces should also be given on this page.
• Full paper should be arranged in the following sequence: Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Tables and Figures (Figure captions on separate page). All headings and subheadings should be typed in capital boldface with no punctuation mark and aligned left.
• Names of organisms should be given in full, i.e. common and Latin names, with authority. Italics are required in species names, which are mentioned in full the first time they appear in the text (e.g. Musca domestica L.) but can be abbreviated at subsequent mention (e.g. M. domestica). Spelling should be in English, except in quotations and references.
• All the pages of the manuscripts, including the title page, should be numbered in Arabic numerals.
• Information in tables should not be duplicated in figures, and vice versa.
• Abstract: An abstract should be concise and preferably not more than 250 words. It should state the objectives, methodology, the principal observations and conclusion(s). It should be followed by three to five appropriate keywords.
• Illustrations: Line drawings should be submitted in duplicate and photographs should be in the form of glossy black and white prints. Color photographs can be included at author’s expense. Figures should be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals, in order of their mention in the text. Each figure should be clearly identified in pencil on the reverse by name(s) of author(s).
• Tables: Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals in order of their mention in the text. Footnotes to tables should be indicated by superscript and typed at the bottom of the table.
• Units and Symbols: Metric units should be used. Greek letters should be explained in the margin, e.g. Gk alpha, Gk sigma etc. Calendar dates should be as, e.g. 15 January 2002. In the text one digit numbers should be spelt out unless they are used with units of measurements, e.g. 3cm. Numerals should be used for all numbers of two or more digits, e.g. 25 larvae.
• References: In the list, references should be arranged alphabetically according to the last name of the first author. The names of authors should be written in the order: last name followed by a comma (,) and initials of the first and middle names separated by a full stop. In case of more than one author the names should be separated by a comma (,). Author(s) names should be followed by date (year in boldface), title of the article, and name of the book/Journal, volume, issue number and pages. Title of the article should be written within inverted commas. Standard abbreviations for the names of the Journals (or in full) should be used in Italic. The issue number of the Journal should be written in parentheses after the volume number. Following examples serve as guideline for references:

Book with a single author:

The order in the list should be:
Single author: When more than one reference by the same author is given, the publications should be given chronologically.
Two or more authors: These should be arranged first alphabetically and then chronologically. If more than one reference by the same author(s) published in the same year is cited, use a, b, etc. after the year in both text and list, e.g. [1999a].
Text citation can be given in either of the two ways: (a) with date in parentheses, “as indicated by Rana [2000]; (b) with name and date in parentheses, as “has recently been reported [Ali 2001]”. When more than one reference is cited in the text these should be in chronological order, (e.g., [Saghir and Asif 1998, Ali 1999, Rana et al. 2002]). For text citation use the names of one and/or two authors and name of the first author followed by et al. for more than two authors, e.g. [Saleem et al. 1998] or Saleem et al. [1998].
[Note:- Authors may find it helpful to consult a recent issue of the journal for details of style and presentation].

4. Acceptance of papers: Papers will normally be critically reviewed by one or more experts in the relevant discipline and evaluated for publication by the editor; however, the editor may return to author(s), without review, any manuscript deemed to be of inadequate quality or inappropriate for the Journal of Research (Science). The views expressed by the referees are forwarded to the author(s) for incorporation/consideration. The decision of the Editorial Board regarding publication of an article is, however, final.

5. Reviews: Reviews should be concise (up to a maximum of twenty pages of the journal), critical and creative. They should seek to stimulate topical debate, and new research initiatives.

6. Short communications: These may be concerned with any subject within the scope of the journal but should be confined to single point or issue of the progress, such as an unusual occurrence, an interesting observation, or a timely finding. These manuscripts should be short (no more than three pages of the journal). An abstract of not more than three lines is required. No subheadings are necessary; in other respect submission should comply with the instructions given.

7. Off prints: Authors will receive 15 off prints gratis. Extra copies may be ordered for purchase when proofs are returned to the Editor.

8. Manuscripts on disk: When supplying finally accepted article please include a 3.5” floppy disk/CD (compact disk) of the manuscript prepared in MICROSOFT WORD FORMAT using Arial font (size 11). Graphs drawn in Microsoft EXCEL and figures in BMP or JPG/JPEG FORMAT are acceptable. Please ensure that the files are not saved as read-only. Ensure that final version of the hard copy and file on the disk are the same. Operating system, file name and word processing package should be noted on the disk. The disk should be labeled with the reference number and author’s name. Pack floppy disk in such a way as to avoid possible damage in the post.

9. Publication Charges: There are no publication charges.
